MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays and CT scans, MRI does not use radiation, which makes it a safe choice for imaging soft tissue such as the brain, muscles, and organs.

What to Expect During Your MRI
Before your scan, you will change into a gown and remove any metal items such as jewelry. Tell our staff if you have a pacemaker, metal implants, or other metal in your body, since these can affect the scan.
During the scan you lie still on a table that slides into the machine, and we provide earplugs or headphones to soften the noise. Most scans take 30 to 60 minutes. Afterward, our radiologist reviews the images and shares the results with you and your referring provider.
